Successful Implementation of the 15MTU Project

OKTE, a.s., as a participating entity in the Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC) project, is pleased to announce the successful implementation of the 15-minute market time unit within the framework of the single European day-ahead electricity market.

The implementation of the 15-Minute Market Time Unit (15MTU), which took place on 30th September 2025 (for delivery day 1st October 2025), represents an important milestone in the further development of the European day-ahead electricity market.

Following the successful go-live, a monitored period known as the rollback period was conducted, during which all involved parties were prepared for a potential return to the previous 60-minute MTU in case of technical complications. This period was successfully completed without the need to activate the rollback scenario, confirming the stability, reliability, and readiness of all systems and organizations involved.

OKTE actively participated in the preparation, testing, and implementation of this large-scale European project, including:

  • local and pan-European system readiness tests,
  • coordination with transmission system operators and market participants,
  • validation of technical and data interfaces within the European SDAC infrastructure.

The successful introduction of the 15MTU marks another step towards a more modern, dynamic, and sustainable energy market in Europe. It enables more precise alignment between generation and consumption, thereby supporting the integration of renewable energy sources, enhancing market efficiency, and increasing overall flexibility.

The official SDAC joint press release on the successful implementation of the 15-Minute MTU is available on the NEMO Committee website:
